This Thursday, 11.16.23: Virtual Artist Talk on C2C Projects
Here’s the question that everyone is going to be tired of hearing soon, ready?
“Where did the year go?!”
That’s right, it’s November and we know time doesn’t care about your plans, goals or anything else, so we’d better adapt and make the most of our days and nights. With that in mind, I’d like to invite you to a free virtual artist talk via Zoom courtesy of C2C Art Projects this Thursday, November 16th at 7pm eastern time. I’ll be speaking about my art practice overall but focusing on the last few years of developments in my artwork, career and my present concerns. My hope is that this will be a good use of your time this week. Many thanks to Lisa Pressman and co. at C2C for inviting me to speak!

Something Big, Something Small at the Bridgette Mayer Gallery
Something Big, Something Small features two recent paintings of mine: Small Bright Corner, above left and Large Bright Corner.
“In art, the principle of scale refers to the relative size of one object compared to another. Usually this is the size of the artwork compared to the viewer’s body. Scale can also refer to the different size relationships of different visuals within a singular piece of art.
For the exhibition Something Big, Something Small , 10 contemporary artists (five represented artists from the gallery program, and five invited artists) were asked to consider scale and shifting scale in their work and create or illustrate the concept of a shift in scale – whether large or small, conceptual, literal or ambiguous and create works around this concept.”
Something Big, Something Small continues through December 30, 2023
I’m really excited to share that Small Bright Corner will be joining a private collection. Large Bright Corner is available and for pricing and other information, please contact the gallery directly. Contact information is below:

Passing Notes, an affiliate publication of NYC Crit Club, and a journal for “artists who write” released their third issue recently and it features my work on the cover with a profile of me inside written by Laura Sallade earlier this past summer. Laura and I had a great conversation when she came by the studio and her writing about my work and practice hits the nail on the head. Laura submitted her written piece and it was accepted. It was a nice surprise opening Instagram to see a message from Laura about her piece being published. My thanks to Laura and everyone at Passing Notes! In the studio
It’s funny how things come around again. Recently, I’ve been (once again) exploring ideas that I started working with years ago and found new ways of bringing them into present works. The blue piece above is a rare monochromatic color painting for me. I just had the urge to make a mostly blue painting and this is the result. There’s a mix of matte and glossy sheen to the painting that appeals to me. I may be attempting something like this on a larger scale soon. The mostly reddish one on the right has a silver under layer that has a slight mirroring effect that I haven’t decided is too distracting or not. Both works are giving me food for thought. The bottom two images are large works on paper from 2013, when I first worked with these interlocking triangle forms. I like the looseness and transparency in these pieces that I think will work well with larger paintings.
Thanks for reading and I’ll see you again soon!
